This has worked wonders for me on especially long road trips.
Edit: Wow, I didn't think people could be so one dimensional. You can be safe AND encourage good posture you apes.

Years ago I did a defensive driving course which included teaching us how to properly adjust your mirrors. Essentially you sit upright, rotate your head to look at a side mirror without changing posture, and tilt your head toward the shoulder on the same side as the mirror you're adjusting. Then move the mirror so that you can only just see the side of the vehicle when your head is tilted. Once you sit normally, you'll notice this has significantly shifted the side mirrors out from where most people position them.
At speed there's going to be nothing touching your car that you don't already know about, and this prevents you from turning to check your blind spot so much that you accidentally turn the wheel and start to drift.
Your mirrors should be adjusted to where they improve safety the best over everything else.

I have resorted to asking people if they don't get a good enough look at their vehicle when they walk up to it. Why would uou have 50% of your mirror covered by the side of your vehicle if you know what it looks like? Do you want to pre-emptively look at the damage you caused when you inevitably merge into someone that you couldn't see right next to you?

LPT: position your car mirrors where you can quickly and accurately observe traffic in your blind spot.
Those are mirrors designed to enhance your situational awareness and prevent unnecessary injury/collision/death, not devices to correct your fucking posture.

Well, I guess having good posture and avoiding unnecessary injury/collision/death aren't mutually exclusive goals.

You’re right, they aren’t, but one is far more important than the other.

Holy fucking shit. Can we not pretend that having slightly misadjusted mirrors is going to lead to an accident? If you get into an accident while moving your head an inch to see properly out of your mirror, then that is a testament to your aggressive and stupid driving habits. Don't try to blame it on your mirrors being askew by two degrees.

The issue isn't "they're askew by 2 degrees." its people literally dont know where to place them. The average person can see more of their own car in the side mirror than the traffic around them. They basically use their side view mirrors as extra rear view mirrors.
Not having a proper view around you can absolutely lead to an accident even if you're driving respectably. You're making a bunch of assumptions in your argument that you pulled out of your ass.

I am not assuming a damn thing
Really?
If you get into an accident while moving your head an inch to see properly out of your mirror, then that is a testament to your aggressive and stupid driving habits.
Here we see you assuming that OC is an aggressive and stupid driver because he made a comment saying that the purpose of the mirrors is not for posture adjustment.
The fact that I need to explain this to you is mind boggling.
And here we are again with you assuming you had to explain that to me!
Making a "LPT" about adjusting your mirrors for posture is ridiculous when the focus should be on adjusting your mirrors so you can use them properly.
The fact that I need to explain this to you is mind boggling.

I adjust mine to where the idiotic giant trucks with nuclear bombs shooting out the front for headlights don't blind me.
I like Alberta, but fuck those idiots. I can see the ladder you use to get in it you cookie elf.

Ah yes, so when you inevitably settle into a more comfortable position you can miss major subconscious/peripheral vision clues from the mirrors because everything is now misaligned.
This is one of those ideas that assumes a spherical cow in a vacuum. On paper, within a very narrow scope, it makes a bit of sense. IRL it’s at best useless and at worst inviting disaster.
I don’t have any suggestions for how to maintain good posture while driving off the top of my head, but I’m sure there are some options that don’t involve turning your sighting system into a chiropractic minigame.

NO,position your mirrors where you can see behind you and both sides properly.Mirrors are NOT made to improve your posture, they're made to make driving safer.
