Fuck memorizing it, just take a picture of it on your cell phone

Police will usually take digital versions of both that and insurance

Have have a picture of my drivers license, passport, birth certificate, and other important documents in an online safe that I can access from anywhere.

I’d imagine name/address/date of birth would be sufficient.

I would say you are one of the few who doesn't pretend to know things.

Can't they look you up by your social?

They certainly can and then you give them your address for verification.

The police can and will arrest you for failure to present a driver's license even if you can present the number(or even a picture).

Just not true. You may identify yourself by giving your full name, date of birth, and address on file and they can look you up. They will often ask for your social security number but you are not required by law to provide it as the previously mentioned information is sufficient to find you in NCIC. You can however be cited for not having your actual license on you but this is only usually done if your being an ass.

Depends on jurisdiction, obviously, but I have had a friend be arrested for "failure provide a license while driving" even though they had looked them up in the system(we saw their picture on the little computer when they threw them in the back), the case was dismissed when said friend arrived at court with their DL but that didn't stop them from being arrested or charged.

Cops are assholes and just because they shouldn't do something doesn't mean they can't or won't.

The easiest way for the police (or the bank, or the hospital, or the insurance company...) to find me in their system is to give them my national identity number. You get it at birth and it will never change during your lifetime.

You should also get the ID when getting your drivers license, it’s only $10 and you should also have more then one ID.

Some states have a driver’s license app that will work as well. At least Colorado does.

They'll ask for your name and social and then look the rest up.

I've been pulled over without my license before. Trust me, they find you well enough without it.

For a long time I had my checking # memorized, but it really threw off the tellers asking for my ID enough that I stopped.
