There's plenty of one hit wonders who have no chance of another hit, but which ones deserved better? As in, their discography is great but not many people know them outside of one song?

Semisonic absolutely deserved more than just being the "Closing Time" band - "Chemistry", "DND", "FNT" are great tunes. Not sure why they were never more popular, they deserved tons of pop hits.

It's worth mentioning that some bands/artists may still qualify even if they had other hits.

For example: Kris Kross is only known for "Jump" and nothing else, but they had three additional top 20 hits, and almost nobody remembers any of them.

Even though they had multiple pop hits (four top 20 hits), Third Eye Blind seems to be only known for Semi Charmed Life by most people (well, maybe Jumper too). Their entire debut album - as well as the follow up Blue - are both 10/10 records. "Anything" is an incredible opener.

These are bands/artists that, had ONE good album and then the rest of their albums are bad or mediocre?

Maybe it could be a singles band/artist who had a particularly strong album with tons of good songs, or a band/artist that didn't even make good singles and were just flat out terrible all around?

Songs About Jane by Maroon 5 would probably be the easiest and most obvious choice for most of you guys.

In my opinion, Move Along by The All-American Rejects... I wouldn't call AAR a "bad" band but they are a singles band for the most part.

But I like a good chunk of the deep cuts on Move Along - songs like Stab My Back, I'm Waiting, Night Drive, 11:11PM and Top Of The World are actually pretty solid tracks.

I really wonder if there’s other people except me who really love music from James Bond movies. Personally, I think that there aren’t many other songs, especially film music, that are such a piece of art. Like everything seems to harmonize and fit so well together. Whenever I don’t know what to listen to, I just head to my James Bond themed playlist. Those songs will never get old to me. They’re so timeless and classy. Sometimes I feel like James Bond music is actually quite underrated. Of course there are people that are like "yeah, that’s nice" but I refer to the ones, actually listening to it.

Is there anyone who also listens to James Bond music?

Just went through their work and was surprisingly impressed on how great these guys actually were. Their two live albums(Alive 97’ - Alive 2007) are two of the better live albums I’ve listened to. If you’re into EDM or always had a bit curiosity on what else they have to offer than their hits, definitely dive in. Personally “Human After All” is a must listen to, but I feel “Random Access Memories” is an easier listen and probably enjoyed by a wider variety of listeners. Let me know your opinions on Daft Punk and their work.

My pick goes to Krisiun, specifically their album Conquerers of Armageddon. I’ve listened to stuff like Cannibal Corpse so I was expected something a bit more melodic, but holy shit it is insane. The drumming is completely insane, there is not second without a blastbeat. It is so claustrophobically dense with tremolo picked riffs and insanely energetic drums.

I recently heard the Mike Shinoda single on a random playlist and I knew it from a Linkin Park album from back in the day but for the life of me can’t figure out what one. Please help: it’s driving me insane!

Who's with me wishing to go back to those Trip Hopping times or am I just an alien 👽 Curious to know why this genre died off even though so much music today appears to contain elements of it. The idea of having hip hop/programmed beats with pop singing is really now your standard pop genre but no one is giving credit to the creators. Anyone even know what I’m talking about or am I too old lol 😝

Right now I listen to about 15 bands. But my music library is expanding continually and I just can't imagine remembering lyrics to all the bands. (Btw. english is not my main language and I usually don't understand it without a text). After all, it's the feeling and the vibe that gets me into listening to songs, but it's a shame to miss the context, isn't it?

Born September 23rd, 1930. Ray Charles also known as "the genuis" in my opinion is the best musician in the 20th century and beyond. Born poor, lost his brother at age 5 and his sight lost at age 8. Mother lost at age 14. The man went through hell yet became one of the world's best voices in the music industry. A voice that only got better with age, voice with so much power and soul (the man even was credited to making the soul genre). Ray Charles brings so much relaxation and peace to my mind, and his voice alone has helped me endure some struggles in my life. Happy Birthday to the genuis of soul Mr. Ray Charles Robinson. Forever you will be missed.

So awhile ago I did a classic rock playlist where I did my best to remove all the overplayed classics (Stairway to Heaven, Bohemian Rhapsody, Hotel California) and replace them with lesser known radio tracks or deep cuts. The goal was to make a list that would familiarize a younger listener with all the classic groups and act as a fresher playlist for someone who grew up with classic rock but are tired of hearing the same songs over and over again. I also hoped to showcase some of the artists you might think you hate but might change your mind after hearing something other than just the same one or two songs over and over again. Plus a ton of forgotten one hit wonders and songs you probably haven't heard in decades.

I'm considering giving the 90s the same treatment (it's an insane amount of work). So what, in your opinion, would be the 90s version of Stairway? I'm thinking like Pearl Jam's Jeremy. Good song, but the radio played it to death.

What 90s songs did you think were great initially, but got ruined for you through over exposure? And if you disagree with someone's choice, feel free to and give your strongest argument to why that song should be included.

Sometimes I get baffled by artists that have a really promising start of their career, but then seem to vanish. Often there is a sad story behind this, sometimes it's not clear what happened.

In the late 90s, early 00s, Manu Chao was really popular in Europa, he was making a kind of universal music that could have made him the new Bob Marley. Bongo Bong and Me Gustas Tu were hits. Then after a less succesfull third album, he never made an album again. He occasionally releases singles that are often mediocre collaborations/guest spots. But what happened?!?

Guns 'n Roses is a very well-known and well-documented example. Band conquers the world, then implodes. This mainly had to do with Axl having a huge ego and being a total control freak, and the others having addiction problems.

Lauryn Hill conquered the world with the Miss-education of, won Grammy's, then kind of imploded with confused behavior and a badly received MTV album. Never heard of again.

Then Outkast. Conquered the world, suddenly split, and Andre 3000 'the new Prince' was repeatedly seen playing a flute in public and then disappearing.

The La's is a band from Liverpool, famous from 'There she goes' (covered by Sixpence none the richer) and a stellar debut album. The singer Lee Mavers was a total perfectionist and control freak who hated the released album and he never followed it up, though he was threatening to re-record the debut album.
