I have been wearing a Rolex daily since I got my first new one a few years ago. But sometimes I think I’d like to wear something cheaper and more readily replaceable if I’m traveling somewhere unfamiliar, feel like there is an elevated risk of crime or risk of damage to the watch.
Do you have a less expensive watch you wear when you prefer not to wear your Rolex? If so, what watch is it?

Seriously from Casio to Seiko to tissot to tudor it just depends on the price range
But all of them have seriously amazing choices and you can’t go wrong with any

Yep G Shock, or Hamilton, or Timex, or Omega, or Waltham, or Tag, or Citizen, or Seiko, or Tissot, or Longines, or Perrelet, or Eterna, or Zodiac, or so many other watches.
I wear one of my Rolex models at least weekly or so. But there are too many fun watches to just wear one thing all the time.

Why? I'm not understanding.
A hunk of metal would go right through a surfboard

Unlike us mortals, this dude surfs off lava lakes of active volcanoes. When you’re going down a lava rapid at 800mph, your melted metal Rolex could act as a shape charge, burning a hole clean through your adamantium-vibranium-alloyed surfboard. That could set you back a few million bucks… and Wolverine really hates it!

After the 60s, most surfboards were made with a fiberglass coating. Puncturing that was frustratingly easy and always involves a repair.
In the last 2 decades, soft top and epoxy boards have become more mainstream, and are tougher.

I think the strength of these watches is widely underestimated.
Each 10 metres (33 feet) of depth puts another atmosphere (1 bar, 14.7 psi, 101 kPa) of pressure on the watch, so at 300 metres (1,000 feet), the watch is withstanding thirty atmospheres (30 bar, 441 psi, 3,000 kPa) of water pressure.
441 lbs per square inch.

I have 1 Rolex
Mostly, my daily wear is an Apple Watch
My collection has about 7 IWC, 12 ORIS and a vintage Omega Seamaster.
I switch it up less and less nowadays because I’m a fat ass and I use my Apple Watch to track my steps and exercise minutes.

Not that I'm looking to debate you but here's a pretty cool CW watch that might just change your opinion on them.
Or even another one, if you're so inclined.
I, for one, am glad to see CW doing cool stuff. I'd wager they're doing more to advance the field of watchmaking than Rolex has in decades, at least people can actually buy them. I like my Rolexes, I hate the exclusivity.

Depends on how sketchy of a place that I'm going to. If I'm at a Mexican resort, I'll wear something mid-range like an Omega or Tudor, but I'll bring a Casio with me for when I go into the city.
If I'm in a richer country - US, Scandinavian - I'll wear whatever I feel like including my Rolexes. I won't wear anything but a Casio, Orient, or Seiko in London. I'd rather not get shanked.

You can get much finer watches that are way more low key for when you travel. Blancpain, Breguet, Lange, will not be noticed by anyone that wants to rob you. Stick to steel or white gold and you’ll be good. Or just buy cheap whatever for beaters I don’t know

I live in South East Asia. I wear Rolex freely and carelessly when I go to street markets and eat street food. When I go to shopping malls I wear less flashy watches from brands like Tudor or Grand Seiko, although the shiny GS polishing attracts attention sometimes.
I feel safe on the streets because no one assumes it's a real Rolex. I don't feel safe in malls because it always feels like someone is watching.

That’s assuming 99% of the people that cross your path daily even notice your wrist watch. Also, the whole point of wearing a watch is for your enjoyment right? Not to give two shits about what others think about your watch, watch brand preference, etc.
-2 points
Well, the OP asked a question, and I gave my answer. When I wear watches any other than a Rolex, I do it also for enjoyment because there are places I go I don't want to take my luxury watches. These watches also have a meaning to me because I value the horology, craftsmanship, and all the take from a company to assemble a watch. I'm talking brands like Seiko, Casio, and even Timex. The fact I don't like an Apple watch it is all about preference, and that's OK.
