Dictionary App mentions this possible definition:
“a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.”
JW’s are both holding to false views of historic Christianity and they are also “unorthodox”.
Same app, of the definition “Orthodox”:
“1.) of, relating to, or conforming to the approved form of any doctrine, philosophy, ideology, etc.”
“2.) of, relating to, or conforming to beliefs, attitudes, or modes of conduct that are generally approved.”
The issue is, historic Christianity doesn’t believe Michael the archangel to be Jesus Christ for example, so JW’s would be considered a cult, since they rob from historical Christian understand and doctrine.

After sharing your testimony to them, I would recommend preaching Acts 17:22-31 to them, as a witness to Jesus resurrection and the future judgment to come.
Sample: “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” Acts 17:30-31

I’m my studies on Islam, I noticed they are unreliable historically (the Qur’an denies the crucifixion of Jesus for example) while history affirms it. Besides the 4 gospels Tacitus the Roman Senator and historian mentions Christ suffered the extreme penalty under Pontius Pilate, which is crucifixion, so the Qur’an already lies about Jesus, while the gospels don’t.
I got you:

There is evidence of Jesus resurrection, see the book:
The Son Rises: The Historical Evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus by William Lane Craig
I’m reading through it so far, it’s a small book, but really impactful.
Also, some books to consider:
Why I Trust the Bible: Answers to Real Questions and Doubts People Have about the Bible by William D. Mounce
This book goes into translations, alleged contradictions, textual criticism, the reliability of the old and New Testaments, etc. ^
Next, how is a Christian’s faith justified?
See this book below:
Knowledge and Christian Belief by Alvin Plantinga
And lastly, a scholarly read on why there are differences in the gospels:
Why Are There Differences in the Gospels?: What We Can Learn from Ancient Biography by Michael R. Licona
I can link more books if you’d like.
But there are scholarly sources addressing such questions as you have.
If you were to ask me, which one of the 4 would you recommend the most? I would say, pick up Mounce’s book. William lane Craig’s book second.

“I have seen everything during my lifetime of futility; there is a righteous person who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked person who prolongs his life in his wickedness.
Do not be excessively righteous, and do not be overly wise. Why should you ruin yourself?
Do not be excessively wicked, and do not be foolish. Why should you die before your time?” Ecclesiastes 7:15-17

In R.C. Sproul’s systematic theology (audio) he said something like: “The question is not what is the true church, but what marks a true church”.
The RCC says it’s the true church, founded by Christ, and the Protestants differ, etc.
Just go back and study Jesus doctrine and the apostles. Learn both sides of the argument.

Do you know what an argument from silence is? I assume yes. On the other hand, there is nothing in scripture to make a doctrine of theistic evolution from, no source, therefore it’s mere speculation and conjecture to say that God used evolution (mainly the Christian Judeo-God).
Trilobites that are supposedly hundreds of millions of years old haven’t changed from their fossilized form into anything else with what we see in them today.
So that is one example of a creature that hasn’t changed (if evolution is true) over millions and millions of years.
You can look this stuff up, secular scientists try to exclude Intelligent design by using evolution, and evolution doesn’t make sense by any stretch of the data we have.
The teleological argument and the cosmological argument are more solid proofs of divine creation (apart from the idea of evolution) than macro evolution being true in reality.

The Bible has a source of information on creation, it isn’t a source of information on evolution, God never used it; to argue He did is an argument from silence when drawing such a conclusion from the Bible.

If the Bible is divine revelation than it functions as what God has revealed to man, evolution isn’t a concept anywhere in scripture.
It says God created creatures, not created, then morphed, then allowed to change over time.
Example: “God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good. God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” Genesis 1:21-22
